Dixie Cartelli has been creating and teaching art & ceramics for over 15 years. She has taught all age groups from children's to adult's classes in a variety of institutions including museums, public & private schools, Montessori schools, and private studios.

Learn the Pottery Wheel...
​
The Pottery Wheel class is perfect for dates, anniversaries, or just something a little different with a friend. Instructor, Dixie Cartelli, will walk you through the process of throwing on the pottery wheel. The session includes, up to two hours of instruction, clay, use of tools and the firing of 1 pot per person.

Pricing is:
$35/hour per person

Please plan for a two hour visit, but you only pay for the time you use.

This includes access to basic studio equipment and materials. There may be small additional fees for firing.

Adult Handbuilding Classes...
Handbuilding is the art of making functional ceramics without the use of a pottery wheel.
​
Adult handbuilding classes can be scheduled for groups of 9 or less. You get to choose in advance from a list of potential clay projects (see button below). It's the perfect way to do something different for friends day or a fun night out!
​
Pricing is as follows:
$25/hour per person, for at least 2 students.
$20/hour per person, for at least 4 students.
$15/hour per person, for 6 or more students.
​
Please plan for a two hour visit, but you only pay for the time you use.
The above prices include access to basic handbuilding studio equipment and materials.
The firing of one piece per person is included in the cost of session, any additional pieces will have an extra firing fee.
Please note that small group lessons can simply be a single clay evening, however if your group would like to add color, at the end of your session you can schedule a follow-up session for your group- to allow them add color their creations.

Miniature Pottery Wheel...
​
Make miniature pottery on tiny pottery wheels with a group of family or friends! Make tiny shot glasses, succulent & air plant planters, or just start a collection of tiny pottery...all while sharing the experience with your small group!

$20/hour per person, for at least 4 students.
$15/hour per person, for 6 or more students.

Children's Handbuilding Classes...
​

Surface Design & Color...
​
Typically this class is a follow up to your pottery wheel or handbuilding lesson. If you would like to add color to your work, you can schedule a follow-up session for Surface Design & Color before your departure from the studio.

A few basic surface design guidelines will be reviewed at the beginning of your visit, and you will be provided with the tools and materials needed for the surface design of your pottery.

What is the pricing for classes?
Pottery Wheel Lesson (2 persons max):
$35/hour per person
​
Handbuilding Lesson (both adult & children) & Miniature Wheel:
$25/hour per person, for at least 2 students.
$20/hour per person, for at least 4 students.
$15/hour per person, for 6 or more students.

Surface Design & Color:
$15/hour per person

How do I schedule a class at SanctuaryStudio?

All class types can be booked online via the ONLINE BOOKING page.

Please note that weekend sessions typically need to be scheduled 2-3 weeks in advance.
Are there any limitations on ages in the studio?
-
No, there is no age requirement. Although you may find that guests younger than 6 or 7 years old may struggle to make a finished product. Most enjoy the feeling of the clay, but sometimes don’t quite have the hand strength or fine motor skills needed to make something on their own. Please take this into consideration when deciding whether to book a class for very young children. If you decide to include younger children in your studio visit, please be prepared to provide them additional assistance.
How many persons can be accomodated in the studio?

How and when do I pay for my class?​

Payment is due, in full, immediately following the completion of your visit and prior to departure. ​

The studio is a CASH ONLY establishment. Please make sure everyone in your party is aware. Please plan for a 2 hour visit, but you only pay for the time used.

Are there any additional costs for a class?
-
The cost of firing and dip glazing one piece of your work is included in the cost of your visit. Each piece you would like fired, beyond one piece is an additional $5- it is completely up to you whether you would like to have your work fired.

If you wish to add color to your pottery, you can schedule a follow-up session for Surface Design & Color before your departure from the studio.

How soon will my pottery be ready for pickup?

Unfortunately pottery is a slow process. Please expect 6-8 weeks on average for your pottery to be ready for pickup.
